Brenda Hodo-Iddris is a strategic financial leader with over twenty years of progressive experience in various aspects of financial leadership. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from the University of North Florida and her Master of Business Administration in Finance from Webster University. Before moving to Atlanta, Brenda lived in Saint Augustine, Florida where she held financial leadership positions at companies in the real estate, banking, and educational services industries.
Prior to relocating to the Atlanta area, Brenda had the pleasure to work for one of Florida’s premier non-profit organizations, Step Up for Students. Step Up for Students provides seven hundred million dollars in educational services to struggling schoolchildren throughout Florida. Brenda was excited to use her talent for cultivating and fostering community between students, staff, and stakeholders.
Over seven years at Step Up for Students Brenda functioned as one of the most critical components of the company’s daily operations, directing all financial aspects. Brenda served as the Director of Corporate Finance and Business Strategy. In this leadership role, she was able to boost revenue by four hundred million dollars through calculated forecasting and planning, and she successfully negotiated a thirty-two-million-dollar credit facility for the non-profit organization.
Brenda joined Step Up For Students in 2011 as Director of Strategic Planning and Analysis, and in 2015 she accepted more responsibility as Director of Strategic Planning and Risk Management. Her planning and forecasting skills helped create a funding model that increased the number of scholarships Step Up for Students provided to one hundred thousand students.
Prior to her career at Step Up, Brenda held various leadership roles including Assistant Vice President Finance at The Jacksonville Bank, a $600 million financial institution, and also Divisional CFO for a multi-billion-dollar real estate development company, WCI Communities.
When Brenda decided to move on from Step Up for Students in 2018, she moved to her new home in Atlanta, Georgia. During her transition to the Atlanta area, Brenda became an Independent Consultant with TopTier Strategic and Financial Consulting for two years. She worked with brands such as McLarens, BILG, the Morehouse School of Medicine, and the Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund to develop strategic plans, staffing and revenue models, budgets, and new business proformas. As an Independent Consultant, Brenda refined her talent for forward-thinking strategy and progressive financial systems implementation while building a network of forward-thinking startups and non-profits.
Brenda brings a wealth of experience in banking and financial services to Temporary Accommodations. As our Director of Finance Brenda manages the day to day operations of the finance team and fosters the continued growth of the company. She leads all aspects of finance including forecasting and reporting, budget development, capital planning, treasury management, billing, AR and AP functions. Brenda’s strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and her unique capacity for empathy, motivates her team to care about their respective projects and be invested in the overall success of Temporary Accommodation’s finance department.
In Brenda’s free time she likes to read leadership books, travel, shoe shop, and spend time with her husband and two daughters, Bella and Bria, AKA her ‘two heartbeats’. She is excited about the precious opportunity to help shape and build the future for Temporary Accommodations. Her motto/words that she lives by are “treat people how you want your children to be treated.” Some of her favorite things are the color pink, pizza, and a killer pair of shoes. The things she cares most about are her babies and the way she makes people feel.
